I know I’m a bit late… but sometimes love just keeps you waiting. Whether this is romantic is an open debate for you to tackle, but I hope you enjoy it anyway! Wishing you lots of love.
Injured promises
How to let go of this hide and seek,
this aching, pulling love that lingers
in resolute hotel rooms
With their smooth sheets
Chemically washed, bleached
Out of human touch
Beaten fresh till they forget
The secrets whispered by
The blinded runaway-bodies
How to let go of the injured promises
This love wearing the rags of a coward
Hiding away in those hotel rooms
Behind their indifferent walls,
muddy decors so softly painted
That they erase your memory
Gently rinse it out of guilt
Guide it into a careless bliss
With the echoes of I do’s fading
As your heart tangles with the warmth
The withering hopes of letting go
Laid bare under the hotel room sheets
Till all that is left of this game
This cold dinner for three
Are the left-overs of our hearts
Our blue lips alienated, wondering
Wandering across the plains
Of our grated, rusty skin
Losing touch, losing trust, losing hearts
Limping in silence, watching
As all our love
So slowly shivers, faints and falls

Stay safe, stay strong, stay lovely! And keep on romancing.
Tragic and aching, but this doesn’t sound very romantic Daisies? Sad.
Oh I know. This just came to me and I think stories deserve to be told. It’s luckily not my story but it is someone’s.
I guess this wasn’t quite my usual weekly dose of sweetness though, so I’ll promise to write something sugary and romantic sporting all the shades of pink next week, deal? :p
As a non-conformist I am tradition averse, but I feel your post was mis-advertised 😉
Yes, pink and candy-coated to the point of inducing nausea please – deal 😀
Oh, and give your suffering friend a hug 8o
I think my heart just broke over and over with each line. There is such beautiful, honest language in this piece. I don’t care if it’s not particularly romantic because for a moment, it was – before it was tragic. And that is exactly the nature of affairs. The complicated blend of romance and tragedy is totally, totally captured.
Thank you. I’m touched that you felt the story! Although I don’t particularly want to break your heart, especially not over and over again. 😀
And I felt like this needed to be written, I wanted to give a voice to other kind of love too, even if I usually wonder the paths of dreamy romance in my poetry.
This is haunting, beautifully written.
